Tim Sanders is the President and founder of Solar Shield, a full service window covering solutions company with locations in Illinois and Missouri. Tim got his start in the window covering industry as a contract installer in 2004.
In 2018 Tim was invited to San Diego to be a part of Alta Window Fashions Dealer Advisory Council
As a contract installer Tim built his business to cater to over 65 retail window covering sales companies and grew his install business to 6 full time installers. They installed everything from residential to commercial projects.
In 2006, Tim created Solar Shield and started growing that along side of his install business. At that time, the focus of Solar Shield was on window film and window tinting for flat glass applications, but as time passed, Solar Shield began offering a full line of custom window treatment solutions.
Roger Magalhaes started in the window coverings industry in 2006 as a part-time installer for a national chain. After only two months, he was asked to leave for “standing out.” Clients continuously requested him over the other installers and this didn’t sit well with his colleagues. He knew he was on to something! Following this experience, Roger traveled to many parts of the country, acquiring formal training and receiving certifications from respected vendors such as Somfy, Hunter Douglas, Norman Shutters and Lutron. He also attended the Custom Home Furnishings Academy for formal installation training focusing on drapery and other soft treatments. Roger is the owner of Shades IN Place, Inc., located in the Boston area. He has done installations in seven states, as well as Cape Cod and the islands of Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. He is the founder of the Facebook group Free Speech Window Covering Pros, a regular columnist for Window Fashion VISION magazine, a presenter at the International Window Coverings Expo and the installation instructor for the Window Fashion Certified Professional FastTRACK program.

Jim has been installing window treatments professionally for approximately 14 years.
Jim started installing window treatments part time when his wife opened her retail custom workroom.
Then as the business grew and transitioned to more of a wholesale workroom and there was a need for more installers in their geographic area Jim was retiring from his previous occupation and became a full time installer about 3 years ago.
Jim has attended Custom Workroom Conferences on several occasions where he attended installation classes. Jim’s previous business experiences in manufacturing management, purchasing, as well as machine shop experience have helped in his current position.
